Lahaina
is a former whaling town and a great place to get a bite to eat, check out
some unique art galleries, and of course shop. In my case,
"shopping" means carry stuff Carol buys. (Just kidding, we
didn't buy much. Really.)
We arrived in Lahaina thru a slight misting of rain. It definitely rains more in the Lahaina/Kaanapali area of Maui. However, check out this rainbow that greeted us! We seem to have the knack for catching a dinner table with a sunset view without having to wait long. Tonight we decide on "Cheeseburger In Paradise" located right on the water at 811 Front Street. It's a Jimmy Buffet type of place specializing in, of course, cheeseburgers and also has live entertainment. 2 levels, good bar, a younger, hipper crowd.

By the time we're done eating, its dark. Front street is the "main drag" in Lahaina. Soon, we're looking in just about every store that sells art, jewelry, and clothes. I'm traveling with 3 women, remember.
Eventually, we get to my favorite place to shop (or dream about actually purchasing something) - the Celebrites Gallery. (Yes, I spelled the name correctly). Its like a museum that sells lithographs, photos, guitars, or art work designed by rock stars and other music celebrities. Most notably, works by Ron Wood, Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and Jerry Garcia are featured. Most of them are pretty pricey. They are mostly all limited edition numbered prints that you would buy as an investment.
The owner is this French guy who seems nice enough. All the employees are dressed in black and are very attentive to me. This is because I am ever so nonchalantly trying to take digital pictures of some of the coolest art work I have ever seen and photographs are kapu (forbidden). They are on to me as soon as I walk in the place and ask me to put my camera away. Ilynn ended up buying a $100 litho photo of Jim Morrison which was quite cool. The Ron Wood piece Carol and I wanted was only $4800. Maybe next time.
